My Postpartum Body Transformation

Nearly 12 weeks ago I gave birth to my first son, Lochlan Ryan Clark.  Lochlan was born May 5, 2014 at 1:24 am. He weighed 7lbs and 9oz.

Look at those lips!!!

He truly is the best thing that has ever happened to me and now more than ever I am determined to have my health in check so that I can be my best for my son.

The first 4 weeks after coming home from the hospital was all about my recovery while loving, nurturing, and providing for my sweet boy.  Walking around the house put enough stress on my postpartum body and when I had free time... I slept.  Labor is extremely taxing on your body and one of the best pieces of advice I took to heart from other parents was to sleep when baby sleeps.

I gained about 32 pounds over the course of my pregnancy.  I was ecstatic when I lost the first 20 pounds within just a couple of days. I thought that it would be easy breezy to lose the rest.

For Girls Who Want Gorgeous Glutes (video)

Research is fun but experiments are even more fun!

Danny and I are big nerds when it comes to everything fitness and we enjoy experimenting with new ways to train smarter.  Like many women, I especially love finding new ways to build the booty!

Lately we have been exploring different ways to build a better butt by embellishing glute activation with the hip thrust movement pattern.

The result:  We came up with a never-before-seen variation to take your glute training to a whole new level!

We actually got the idea from my friend and known research scientist, Kenneth Jay and his version of the kettlebell swing. When I watched him demonstrate the kettlebell swing I had an "ah ha moment" and thought, "If that works for the swing then why not apply it to the barbell hip thrust?"

After all, the kettlebell swing is basically an upright ballistic version of the hip thrust.

So, what am I talking about?

Check out my video below to see a demo and learn about our new variation of the barbell hip thrust, "The Abby Thrust" :-)

Note: This video was shot 8 weeks postpartum, so be gentle :))

Looking for a program that incorporates the hip thrust and other amazing glute building exercises? Then check out my female specific fitness program, Bikini Beauty.

Bikini Competitor Success Secret #3 - Attitude is Everything

Athletes are champions in the making.

Competing in a Bikini competition is a common goal that many women set for themselves when they decide that they want to make a big transformation with their bodies.  Competing has its rewards (read about them in an earlier article I wrote HERE) but it is not the best goal for every woman.  Why?

Committing to not only competing but also to the process of preparing yourself for the stage requires a certain attitude.  This attitude, which I will get into more specifically in a moment, is often the game changer for many, many women.  It separates those who succeed in the long run from those that do not.  There are three distinct attitudes that I have noticed since I started my career in Bikini back in 2010:

          (1) the Wannabes, (2) the Dreamers, and (3) the Champions.
